I was at work, preparing someone's meds at that moment, ears open for residents, catching the words of the TV down the hall. What were those very first words? A plane has flown into...? The shock at that- so many people; how could such an accident happen? I moved on with the medicines, to the next door. A second plane. And America stood silent, breath caught, bracing itself, horrified with the realization this was no accident. And then from everywhere, everywhere, everywhere, help went speeding in.

I remember my mom calling to ask if I was watching the news. Prior to that, I'd had no idea.
I remember watching the second plane enter with absolute disbelief.
I remember a lot of tears. Being glued to the TV set for days.
I remember praying like I've never prayed before for survivors.
I remember anger at the person who used their cellphone to call and pretend to be a survivor trapped in the rubble.
I remember people standing in line for hours waiting to donate blood.
I remember like it was yesterday.

I remember hearing about the plane crashing in PA, the plane heading for the Pentagon, and wondering what else was coming, when it was going to stop.
